Coach Diggs With Craig Jones — still evolving while others stepped away or stopped growing.

Coach Scott Diggs

Founder of 570 Jiu Jitsu
Pioneer of Local Jiu Jitsu & MMA

Coach Diggs is the architect of modern martial arts in this area. A lifelong wrestler and boxer, he began competing in jiu jitsu and fighting out of state before it was even legalized in Pennsylvania in 2009. Needing training partners, he offered to teach wrestling and boxing at a local karate school, trading knowledge for mat time. That moment sparked a movement.

He quickly rose to Judo brown belt due to his dominant wrestling ability, then rounded out his striking with boxing and Muay Thai in the early 2000s.

In 2005, he began training Jiu Jitsu seriously with a purple belt under Sergio Souza (Brazilian Top Team). Soon after, at a fight in Atlantic City, he met Jeff Reese, a longtime Royce Gracie student who became a mentor and close friend. Through Jeff, Coach Diggs earned his blue belt from Rodrigo Gracie in 2007, and in 2012, Jeff promoted him to purple belt, calling it "long overdue." He was promoted to brown belt in 2017 and earned his fourth stripe by 2019.

Always Evolving

While many in the area either stepped away or stopped progressing, Coach Diggs stayed on the mat teaching nightly, raising training partners, and continuing to evolve his own game. He never settled.

“A lot of guys earned a blue belt or even a black belt and stopped learning. I never did. I kept leading from the front.”
— Coach Diggs

Some coaches from his generation plateaued. Others were never serious to begin with, left the sport entirely, only to return years later, rebranded. Coach Diggs never had to reinvent himself because he never stopped doing the work.

That mindset is why he continues to train with and exchange knowledge with world-class athletes and others at the highest levels of the sport. He doesn’t just follow the evolution, he contributes to it. While many from his era are stuck teaching outdated systems, Coach Diggs has mastered both the foundational game and modern innovations. His students benefit from a coach who lives what he teaches and moves at the speed of the sport.

Certified. Proven. Respected.

Coach Diggs is the only certified Gracie University Instructor (ICP) in the area, having completed the full instructor program, including a weeklong evaluation under Rener and Ryron Gracie at Gracie HQ. While others attempt to mimic the structure or claim association without completing the process, Coach Diggs pursued certification not to validate what he already knew, but to refine how he teaches it.

He also holds credentials from the U.S. Muay Thai Federation and has coached and cornered fighters at the highest levels, including Bellator MMA, BKFC Bare Knuckle Boxing, Lion Fight Muay Thai and countless regional MMA, boxing, and Jiu Jitsu events.

He spent more than a decade teaching every night while building Team Vicious, the area’s first legitimate MMA program, all while raising his son and daughter as a single father. After his youngest graduated in 2020, he opened 570 Jiu Jitsu in 2023, realizing a vision nearly 20 years in the making.

At 570 Jiu Jitsu, Coach Diggs leads by example. And at age 51 he continues to train with his top students daily.

No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just real skill, earned knowledge, and proven results.

Because the mat never lies.

After Coach Diggs launched 570 Jiu Jitsu, Erb took over coaching responsibilities at Team Vicious MMA, continuing to refine his craft and help develop new talent. When the time came to expand 570’s MMA program, Coach Erb was the natural choice—and when he called, Coach Diggs had no hesitation. His return brought years of leadership, experience, and loyalty full circle.
